Founded in 1917 in Lengnau, Switzerland, Rado became the world’s first “scratchproof” watch by bringing hard metal and sapphire crystal into the watchmaking industry during a time these materials were not normally used. Since then, Rado has continued innovation with the introduction of cermet, a titanium-based ceramic combined with metal. The Ceramica was Rado’s first watch chosen to feature patented plasma high-tech ceramic, a color and material combination that exudes a metallic glow without the use of any metal.
For nearly three decades, high-tech ceramic has played a central role in Rado’s approach to watchmaking.
In a patented process used by Rado, plasma high-tech ceramic is forged in an oven at high temperatures. Gases activated at 20,000°C transform finished white ceramic into a unique material with a metallic shine – but without the use of any metal. The color of the ceramic is transformed without affecting its essential properties: lightness, hardness and wearer comfort.
Lightweight and hypoallergenic, high-tech ceramic watches are incredibly comfortable and can be worn by anyone with sensitive skin. These high-tech ceramic surfaces can be metallic or matte, crafted in an array of colors.
Rado has been committed to providing each of its customers with exceptional watches. Taking pride in knowing that every item they select has surpassed the highest quality standards, Rado selects Authorized Retail partners who also uphold those high standards. Sheiban Jewelers is a Rado Authorized Retail partner, and they demonstrate incredible brand knowledge, quality, and customer service standards that Rado holds paramount.
